Valorie Jayne is
a singer/songwriter from Yukon, Oklahoma. She grew up in western Oklahoma, in
the small country town of Burns Flat. Valorie attended Southwestern Oklahoma
State University and Arkansas State University. She used her degree and varied
programming skills to land a job as a computer programmer and project manager;
however, never gave up the music. She continues to play in the clubs 3 nights a
week. She plays piano and guitar and has one of the most moving voices ever.
Valorie has been hired to perform studio vocals on various projects for Lunacy
records. She also gives lessons in piano and vocal training.
Valorie began
her singing career at the age of 3. She traveled, with her musically talented
family, across the country singing gospel music. At the age of 13 she began
performing with various bands around Oklahoma. At the age of 17 she entered
into the Miss America pageant system, where she won various awards. She was
elected Band and Vocal Queen of her high school in 1992. She has had the
opportunity to meet and open for various country greats. One of her fondest
memories was meeting Kathy Mattea, who is one of her favorite artists of all
time. She has played for both the Army & Air Force at various events and
recently played for Toby Keith at his "I love this bar & grill".
For the past 5
years, Valorie has played 3 nights a week. One of those nights, she hosts an
acoustic jam. This has been an opportunity that is close to Valorie’s heart
because she has the opportunity to give a stage to performers and songwriters
who might not have one any other way. She has also honed her skills on guitar,
by playing this open jam. She has worked hard and will continue to give her all
to her music. She is currently working on more songs for her Freshman CD
project. Her skills as a songwriter and a performer are incomparable. She is a
member of “Oklahoma Songwriters and Composers Association” and is affiliated
with BMI for her original compositions.
